Chris Christie will serve as the keynote speaker to close out the February sessions of Legalweek(year), ALM announced Wednesday.
The former New Jersey governor and legal and political commentator will sit for a virtual fireside chat at 9:30 a.m. EST Feb. 4. Christie, who also served as the U.S. attorney for New Jersey, will discuss the current political climate, the upcoming administration and how to navigate the myriad challenges facing America in 2021. He will be interviewed by David Gialanella, bureau chief of the New Jersey Law Journal and managing editor of Law.com's regional brands. To register to hear Christie's discussion or attend any of the other sessions across the Feb. 2-4 event, click here.
After being elected governor in 2010, Christie focused on pension and health benefits reform along with combatting the opioid crisis. In 2014, he was chairman of the Republican Governors Association. In 2017, Christie was named chair of the President's Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.
The announcement of Christie as a keynote follows word last week that former Georgia gubernatorial candidate and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams would open up the February sessions as the keynote Feb. 2. Abrams will be interviewed by Samantha Joseph, Law.com contributing editor and co-lead of the litigation desk. On Feb. 3, keynote Joshua Walker, author of "On Legal AI" and co-founder of CodeX, will discuss the future of legal services in a conversation with ALM Chief Content Officer Molly Miller.
The February session is the first installment of Legalweek(year), a series of five virtual legal events that tackle the changing legal landscape and provide insights aimed at helping legal leaders restructure, rebuild and reinvigorate law firms and legal departments. The agenda can be found here. Aside from the February event, other sessions will take place in March, April, May and July.
