In late October, the New Jersey Assembly Appropriations Committee approved A1708, legislation that would require workers' compensation and personal injury protection (PIP) auto insurance benefits to cover medicinal cannabis in certain situations.
A1708 was approved by the Assembly Committee on Financial Institutions earlier in 2020, and now has advanced out of the Appropriations Committee.
The legislation stipulates that a patient enrolled in New Jersey's medical cannabis program could potentially have their costs covered unless the federal government enforces the prohibition of cannabis.
