Lemonade, the property and casualty insurance company headquartered in New York that offers homeowners and renters insurance, has recently announced its plans to expand into pet insurance.
Despite astronomic pet healthcare numbers, a shockingly low number of American pet owners have pet health insurance. According to Lemonade, 70 percent of its customers are also pet owners, a number relevant to determining rental and homeowners insurance quotes.
Lemonade entered the insurance market in 2015 with the goal of changing the way the country approaches insurance. The company uses artificial intelligence and chatbots to deliver insurance policies and quotes to users within minutes on desktop and mobile devices.
Although the announcement occurred this week, it could potentially be months before a Lemonade Pet Health Insurance product hits the market.
