Auto Fraud — Nevada

Amount: Unknown

A woman from Elko, Nevada has been booked for attempted insurance fraud for damage that she reported occurred to her vehicle more than two years ago. The complaint states that she has been accused of seeking payment from a Progressive insurance policy in March 2017, by falsely claiming that the front of her vehicle had been damaged earlier that month on a highway. The complaint alleges that the damage to the vehicle existed prior to the reported accident. The fraudster claims her vehicle struck a concrete barrier at the intersection, but there was actually no concrete barrier present at that intersection. She has been charged with a D felony, which has a maximum penalty of one to four years in prison, and a potential fine of up to $5,000.
