Swiss Re has acknowledged in a statement that it is "engaged in preliminary discussions with SoftBank Group Corp." regarding a potential minority investment in Swiss Re by SoftBank.

The company's announcement followed a report in the Wall Street Journal that SoftBank was considering purchasing up to one-third of Swiss Re's shares for $10 billion or more.
