The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation ("FOIR") has reported that over 877,000 claims had been filed as of January 5, 2018 for losses suffered as a result of Hurricane Irma.

The FOIR compiled the information from claims data filed by insurers.

According to the FOIR report, there were:

- 730,574 residential property claims filed;

- 53,931 commercial property claims filed;

- 1,699 private flood insurance claims filed;

- 3,754 business interruption claims filed; and

- 87,885 claims filed by other lines of business.

The FOIR estimated total insured losses at $7,206,877,805.
