Ian Kyle is the new Northwest regional underwriting counsel for North American Title Insurance Company ("NATIC"). In this role, Mr. Kyle will provide legal and underwriting support to NATIC agents doing business in Washington, Idaho, and Oregon.
"Ian will be a keystone in our Northwest regional growth, as he can assist on both residential and commercial transactions," said Valerie Jahn-Grandin, NATIC executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel. "His experience as a commercial underwriting counsel as well as operating his own successful practice gives him insight into how to achieve a seamless relationship between our agents and their underwriter. From the largest agent to the smallest, he understands agents' distinct business needs and has a keen sense of how to grow their markets.
"In addition, Ian is inquisitive, dedicated, and thorough – important qualities when it comes to resolving agents' transactional questions," added Ms. Jahn-Grandin. "He will be the NATIC representative on the as-yet-to-be-organized Washington rating bureau, and I know his contributions will be beneficial to the entire Washington title industry."
Most recently, Mr. Kyle had a solo law practice focused on real estate and civil litigation. He previously had been a transactional real estate counsel and worked for nearly three years as an underwriting counsel at a commercial branch of a national title insurance company. In that capacity, he worked on high value commercial real estate transactions, primarily in Oregon.
Mr. Kyle received his bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon.
"My real estate litigation and title underwriting experience uniquely qualify me to help NATIC agents now and into the future," said Mr. Kyle. "I have a passion for real estate law that drives me to seek creative solutions to all types of underwriting challenges. In addition, I will thoroughly enjoy helping our agents close their transactions in a timely and straightforward manner."
Mr. Kyle will work out of the field office in Portland, Oregon.
