When buying a property policy, an insured has the option of RCV or ACV. An insured will often pay more for the RCV on their property, only to find out during the final claims settlement that they would be better off financially to elect an ACV settlement. We will look at the advantages and disadvantages of each option in various claims situations to show why that might happen.
