The North Carolina Department of Insurance published a bulletin informing insurers of a data call on liability insurance for childcare centers and in-home childcare.

The data call applies to any insurer that collected premium in North Carolina for general liability, errors and omissions, directors and officers, or sexual abuse and molestation coverage for childcare centers or home childcare from January 1, 2010, through December 31, 2025.

Whether the coverage was provided by a stand-alone policy or through an umbrella policy or an endorsement to a homeowners, the data call applies. Other insurers that did not provide any of the above coverage through that time period need not respond. Insurers that only provide reinsurance also don't need to respond to the data call.

The deadline is October 9, 2026. Instructions and forms can be found on the Department website.

The bulletin can be found here.
