The Maryland Insurance Administration published a bulletin announcing it is accepting applications for members to join the Workgroup on the Affordability of Private Passenger Automobile Insurance.
The group was created in 2025, and its termination date was extended to June 30, 2027, by Senate Bill 865. The purpose of the group is to conduct a study of the affordability of private passenger automobile insurance in Maryland and report its findings to the Governor and the General Assembly.
The group is asked to develop recommendations on the use of territorial rating and other rating factors with respect to the affordability of insurance in the state. Applicants interested in joining the group can apply here.
The deadline to apply is July 17, 2026.
