A study by vHomeInsurance has found that Pit Bull attacks accounted for the highest number of fatal attacks by dogs during the period 2005 to 2017.
According to vHomeInsurance's analysis, Pit Bulls were the canine breed with the most number of fatal attacks.
In a statement, vHomeInsurance said that "[t]he disturbing statistics justify the growing vocal opposition against owning Pit Bulls as pets and also the hesitation shown by home insurance companies to provide policy coverage for the breed owners."
The company added that, "Pit Bulls often make the headlines for their malicious attacks and the likeliness of turning against their owners and other family members. Several organizations have long been working to ban Pit Bulls. The New York City Housing Authority ('NYCHA'), the largest public housing authority in North America, has banned Pit Bulls from all of its housing facilities. The analysis also brought to light some of the other aggressive dog breeds, such as Rottweilers, German Shepherds, Boxers, that have been blacklisted by most home insurers."
