Standard Insurance Company has promoted Liz Fouts to assistant vice president and associate counsel for legal and compliance.
The Standard said in a statement that Ms. Fouts will continue to oversee the legal transactions team as well as legal operations for The Standard.
Ms. Fouts has more than 19 years of legal experience. Since joining The Standard in 2008, she has held several legal positions including advising on employment and privacy matters as an attorney in the Corporate Legal Department and working on insurance litigation for the Insurance Services Group Legal Department. In 2016, she was promoted to second vice president and associate counsel where she was responsible for managing legal and compliance for retirement plans and individual annuities.
Prior to joining The Standard, Ms. Fouts was in-house counsel for ALL Student Loan, a nonprofit student lender. She began her legal career practicing as a litigator and business attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Ms. Fouts earned a B.A. in criminal justice from California State University Sacramento and a J.D. from University of San Francisco School of Law.
