AXA XL's insurance business has partnered with the company's global healthcare operations to launch a new healthcare insurance product for Spanish and Portuguese companies with employees on expatriate assignments.

In a statement, AXA said that it designed the coverage to allow clients to either choose standard plans or fully bespoke packages tailored to their specific needs.

Jose Luis Gómez Banovio, head of accident and health for Iberia at XL Catlin, now part of AXA XL, a division of AXA, noted, “While Spanish and Portuguese businesses operating internationally already benefit from AXA XL's personal accident coverage and business travel protection, expanding our suite of solutions to now include international private medical insurance will help them ensure their employees have the protection and support they want and need wherever they are in the world.”

Tom Wilkinson, the chief executive officer of AXA's global healthcare operations, commented, “We recently conducted a survey on the needs of expatriate employees. When asked what benefits they would most like to receive, they most often cited international health insurance and housing assistance. Their employers also stressed that healthcare was a priority, with more than two-thirds expressing concerns about international assignments failing due to physical or mental health issues. By combining AXA XL's accident and health insurance expertise and AXA['s global healthcare] capabilities, we are now able to provide these employees with the support and healthcare services they need and want, wherever they are in the world.”
