Dentists Benefits Insurance Company (“DBIC”) and Northwest Dentists Insurance Company (“NORDIC”), acquired by The Dentists Insurance Company (“TDIC”) in February 2017, plan to merge with their parent company, TDIC, effective January 1, 2019, upon regulatory approval.
As a result of the merger, DBIC and NORDIC will be combined into TDIC and the companies will unite as one operating as The Dentists Insurance Company.
“Like DBIC and NORDIC, TDIC has a strong history of protecting dentists and their practices,” said TDIC's board chair, Daniel Davidson, DMD. “With nearly 40 years of providing high quality products and services to our customers, we are thrilled to continue this legacy as we join the companies under the TDIC brand and our shared dentist-centric vision.”
TDIC offers professional and business liability, commercial property, workers' compensation, employment practices liability, and cyber liability products to more than 19,000 dentists in 10 states. With the merger, TDIC will add over 5,000 additional policyholders in five states.
“Merging with TDIC continues our well-established financial strength and will give policyholders peace of mind, knowing the companies have a shared promise and single vision to only protect dentists,” said Washington dentist and TDIC's director, Princy Rekhi, DDS.
Founded in 1980, TDIC, a subsidiary of the California Dental Association, underwrites professional and business liability, commercial property, workers' compensation (California only), and employment practices liability and cyber liability coverage exclusively for dentists.
