There are three new members of the board of directors of the National Insurance Producer Registry (“NIPR”): Maryland Insurance Commissioner Al Redmer Jr., Rhode Island Superintendent of Insurance Elizabeth Kelleher Dwyer, and South Dakota Insurance Director Larry D. Deiter.

Incorporated in October 1996, the NIPR is a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (“NAIC”).

“We are pleased to welcome Commissioner Redmer, Director Deiter, and Superintendent Dwyer to the board,” said Roger A. Sevigny, the president of the NIPR board and the insurance commissioner of New Hampshire. “Their combined experience and commitment to the U.S. regulatory insurance system will be a great benefit to the NIPR board of directors.”

Commissioner Redmer was appointed insurance commissioner of Maryland by Governor Lawrence J. Hogan in January 2015. He previously served as insurance commissioner from June 2003 to October 2005 and managed Redmer Insurance Group and Redmer Financial Group.

Superintendent Dwyer was appointed deputy director and superintendent of insurance and banking on January 11, 2016. Prior to her appointment, she served the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation for 15 years, first as general counsel to the insurance division and later as associate director.

Director Deiter was appointed director of South Dakota's division of insurance on January 8, 2015. Director Deiter has more than 25 years of experience in commercial banking and business management, which includes insurance product sales management.

“NIPR is a critical component of state-based insurance regulation and the NAIC,” said Ted Nickel, the president of the NAIC and the insurance commissioner of Wisconsin. “Commissioner Redmer, Director Deiter, as well as Superintendent Dwyer have years of insurance experience and service and I know they will be immensely valuable to the board.”
