Hamilton Insurance Group, Ltd., the holding company for Bermuda-based class 4 property and casualty reinsurer Hamilton Re, has hired Conan M. Ward to head the group's U.S. operations.

Mr. Ward brings more than 20 years' insurance and reinsurance experience to his new position with Hamilton Insurance Group. Prior to establishing a consulting firm in 2012, Mr. Ward spent 11 years in Bermuda, most recently as chief executive officer at Validus Reinsurance Ltd. He held the position of chief underwriting officer of Validus Re from its founding until 2009. From its formation in 2001 until 2005, he was an executive vice president of Axis Specialty Ltd. From 1992 to 2001, Mr. Ward held a variety of positions in insurance and reinsurance broking and underwriting.
Mr. Ward holds a bachelor of science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
