The merger between Stinson Morrison Hecker and Leonard, Street and Deinard, creating Stinson Leonard Street LLP, has been completed. The combined firm has offices in 14 cities and more than 520 attorneys. The merger also resulted in the expansion of Stinson Leonard Street's practice areas, including its insurance coverage group, which now stands at 25 attorneys.
Leading Stinson Leonard Street's management are co-managing partners Mark Hinderks and Lowell Stortz, along with deputy managing partner Allison Murdock. Leading the firm's insurance coverage practice are Scott Hecht, a partner based in the firm's Kansas City office, and Robert Thavis, a partner based in the firm's Minneapolis office.
“As our pending combination took shape in late 2013, it did not take long for us to see the prospective advantages of combining our insurance coverage practices,” said Mr. Hecht. “Bob Thavis and the team in Minneapolis are a well-respected, accomplished group. In fact, Bob has an outstanding reputation among coverage practitioners, in part because of his longstanding association with the ABA Coverage Litigation Committee.”
“We share a lot of the same ideas and interests when it comes to client service and our practice, so we shared the same degree of enthusiasm about bringing both firm's teams together,” said Mr. Thavis. “Combined, we now have 25 experienced attorneys in the group and our practice extends well beyond the Midwest, into markets like Phoenix and Denver, where we look forward to further growth.”
