Frank J. DeMento has joined the law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP as counsel in the firm's Insurance/Reinsurance Group in New York.

Mr. DeMento's practice focuses on arbitrating, mediating, and litigating reinsurance disputes involving issues on behalf of cedents, reinsurers, retrocedents, and brokers. He has represented clients in disputes involving asbestos, pollution, heath hazard, and professional liability claims. He also counsels clients regarding business strategy, including regulatory requirements, capital management goals, commutations, and legal processes.

Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Mr. Demento was the head of run-off claims, the head of retroceded claims, and claims counsel for a multi-line reinsurer. He also worked in-house for Certain Underwriter's at Lloyd's of London, and he was a partner in the Reinsurance Litigation group at Mendes & Mount, LLP. Mr. DeMento has been a member of the AIDA Reinsurance and Insurance Arbitration Society since 2003. He also was a member of the board of directors of ROM Reinsurance Management Co., Inc. for six years and served as its chairman. In addition, Mr. DeMento was a member of the board of directors of the Association of Insurance and Reinsurance Run-off Companies for three years and continues to serve as co-chairman on its education committee.
