California's State Compensation Insurance Fund has appointed Beatriz Sanchez as its Chief Operating Officer (“COO”). Established in 1914 by the California legislature, State Fund is California's largest provider of worker's compensation insurance.

As COO of State Fund, Ms. Beatriz's responsibilities include the design and implementation of State Fund's strategy for effectively supporting worker's compensation reform (SB 863), as well as identifying other opportunities for State Fund to influence the California worker's compensation system.

Ms. Sanchez joined State Fund in 1987 as a claims adjuster. In 2008, she was appointed as senior vice president of Southern Claims Operations, in charge of regional operations in Los Angeles/Tri-County, Inland Empire/San Diego, and Orange County, before being promoted to executive vice president of claims in 2010.

Ms. Sanchez earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from the University of La Verne in Southern California.

Tom Rowe, President and CEO of State Fund, said of Ms. Sanchez, “Beatriz has excelled at every leadership challenge she has faced over the 2 1/2 years I've had the opportunity to work with her. She not only solves problems, she has the ability to anticipate them, and respond in advance. Best in breed claims operations are led by capable individuals who are themselves claims experts who really understand claims operations top to bottom. State Fund's claims operation is fortunate to be led by such an individual.”
