Drivers who engage in reckless behavior behind the wheel may find themselves required to file an SR-22. An SR-22 is a form that a driver must submit to their state if they are convicted of a DUI or DWI, or rack up too many at-fault accidents or traffic violations. This form proves to the state that they have the minimum required insurance coverage for their vehicle.

The cost of filing this form is minimal -- $15 to $50, depending on the state – but drivers who have these kinds of marks on their record will see increased insurance rates because of their risky driving habits, and may have a difficult time finding an insurer who will cover them at all.
