Teen drivers don't just need auto insurance when they get their first license. Experts say teen drivers may also need insurance when they secure their learner's permit.

But as a recent Forbes Advisor article points out, parents have good reason to be hesitant about taking this step with their teens. Besides the fact that teen drivers are expensive to insure, they're also prone to accidents, and many of them are deadly accidents.
