You know a bad road when you're on one, either as a driver or a vehicle passenger: Potholes, broken pavement or concrete, poor signage, confusing traffic flow and inadequate pedestrian control are just some of the hallmarks of dangerous roads.
In many cases, there also are statistics to back up the idea that any given road can be labeled as "dangerous."
