A commonality among the top-rated home insurers are high scores in customer service, claims processing and price, according to a study by Insure.com.

Additionally, top-rated companies had planned renewal rates of at least 90%, according to the site, which noted the findings indicate consumers are more interested in efficient claims handling and customer services than big discounts.

While discounts aren't everything, consumers are showing an increased willingness to share more personal data with insurers for the chance at lower rates.
