Excellence in customer service, claims and pricing were noticed by consumers surveyed by Insure.com, which conducted a poll to uncover the top-rated personal auto insurance providers.

The survey found that while cheap rates are attractive to shoppers, high-quality service and quick claims payments are keys to retention. Additionally, the top-rated companies' renewal rates were typically 95% or higher. Client retention became critical during the past year, as the pandemic forced around 40% of U.S. consumers to reduce or eliminate an insurance policy. Auto coverage was the second-most impacted line when it came to consumers cutting or reducing coverage.
