I recently saw a meme poking fun at a social media job posting that required 15 years of experience. "So like they want to hire Tom from Myspace!??!" Twitter user lydia juliet asked. It made me smirk, but it's wild to think that just 15 years ago, Myspace and Facebook were barely taking off. And 20 years ago? Social media didn't even exist.

Today, there's a platform for just about everything. Between Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok and others, there are myriad platforms, and they all function in a slightly different way.
