Managing general agents are in a unique position amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. As intermediaries, they see how the crisis has impacted both ends of the insurance sales process while also facing distinctive challenges to their channel.
In a recent webinar hosted by Patra, a panel of executives discussed the obstacles facing MGAs in 2020. The panel included:
- Rekha Skantharaja, president and CEO of Tangram Insurance Services;
- Bryan Schofield, SVP of commercial lines at Orchid Underwriters; and
- Carl Niedbala, co-founder and CEO of Founder Shield.
Much of the discussion centered on how COVID-19 has impacted foundational aspects of intermediary business, such as capacity and recruiting, with the panelists presenting how their companies have weathered the pandemic's impact. The panelists also offered their words of wisdom on how MGAs can succeed in any market environment.
