AM Best announced that Larry G. Mayewski will retire from hisposition as chairman, president and CEO of AM Best Rating ServicesInc. at the end of the year. Matthew C. Mosher, currently executivevice president and chief operating officer, will succeed Mayewskiand assume the role of president and CEO of AM Best Rating Serviceson July 1, 2019.

As part of the transition in responsibilities, Mayewski willassume the role of executive director at AM Best Rating Servicesand remain as chairman of the board for the remainder of theyear.

Additionally, James Gillard will succeed Mosher as executivevice president and chief operating officer of Am Best RatingServices. Gillard has been with the company since 2008 and hasspent the past four years leading the enhancements of AM Best'srating methodology and rating tools.

Past and present collide

Mosher held several management roles since joining AM Best in1995 before assuming his current responsibilities, as well as beingthe CEO of AM Best Asia-Pacific Ltd. in Hong Kong and co-CEO of AMBest's Singapore industry. With this new role, he will also beresponsible for AM Best's Europe-based subsidiaries in London andAmsterdam.

Mayewski started at AM Best in 1981 as a financial analyst,joined the board of directors in 1992, and in 2000, becameexecutive vice president and chief rating officer, with oversightfor the life and health, property & casualty and internationalrating divisions. He moved to his current role with theestablishment of the credit rating agency subsidiary in January2016.
