The SpencerEducational Foundation named 70 full-time undergraduate,graduate and Pre-dissertation Ph.D. students as its 2018 SpencerScholars. The students, selected and screened from a pool of morethan 730 applicants, represent 28 schools.

Undergraduate scholarships awarded students $5,000each, while master's and pre-Ph.D. dissertation scholarsreceived $10,000 each. A total of $390,000 was given out. Theseawards bring the number of scholarships awarded by the non-profitto 1,051.

“The best and the brightest”

In addition to 33 general undergraduate scholarships, theSpencer Educational Foundation awarded 29 named undergraduatescholarships. All those scholarships are for $5,000. The namedscholarships were sponsored by 16 insurance industryorganizations.

Additionally, risk managers pursuing part-time master's degreesare eligible for scholarships worth up to $10,000. The deadline forthese scholarship applications is May 1. More information abouteligibility and such can be found on the organization's website.

“These scholarship recipients represent the future of ourindustry and, based on their collective credentials, our industrywill be in very good hands,” said Tim Meacham, Spencer'sScholarship Committee Chairman COO of Lockton BenefitsCompanies, in a statement. “These students have been and continueto be among the best and brightest students entering the workplaceand we thank our donors for their generosity which allows us tocontinue our mission by providing them with thesescholarships.”
