USAA delivers the best customer experience in the insuranceindustry, according to the 2018 Temkin Experience Ratings, anannual customer experience benchmark of companies based on a surveyof 10,000 U.S. consumers.

15 insurance carriers were included in this year's list. USAAearned the highest score with a rating of 75%, placing it 65thoverall out of 318 companies across 20 industries. USAA has led theinsurance industry every year since 2011.

  • AAA – 65%
  • American Family – 65%

  • Liberty Mutual – 60%

Overall, the insurance industry averaged a 67% rating and tiedfor 9th place out of 20 industries. The average rating of theindustry decreased by 1.3% between 2017 and 2018, from 68.5% to67.2%.

Methodology

To generate these ratings, Temkin Group asked 10,000 U.S.consumers to evaluate their recent experiences with a companyacross three dimensions: success (canyou do what you want todo?), effort (how easy is it to workwith the company?), and emotion (how doyou feel about the interactions?). Temkin Group then averaged thesethree scores to produce each company's Temkin ExperienceRating.

In these ratings, a score of 70% or above is considered “good,”and a score of 80% or above is considered “excellent,” while ascore below 60% is considered “poor.”
