New York City-based RIMSannounced the appointment of Nowell R. Seaman as president of therisk management professional association for 2017.

He is the director of global risk management for Saskatchewan-basedPotash Corporation. He has been a member of RIMS for 21 years andon its Board of Directors for nine years. Previously, heserved as the Society's vice president. He also served as the Chairof the RIMS Canada Council from 2003-2005, a director of RIMSSaskatchewan Chapter from 1997-2007 and chaired the secretariatresponsible for the creation of the McGannon Foundation.

“The narrative is changing,” said Seaman, atright. “More organizations are recognizing the positive side ofrisk. They are witnessing the power of risk management and itsability to identify new resources, new processes and new strategiesthat can take the organization to new heights. RIMS has positioneditself as a leader in the industry. For years, it has providedpractitioners with the tools and resources to advanceprofessionally. As president, it is my goal to ensure that theSociety's momentum continues forward and that, together, our globalnetwork is prepared for whatever may come next.”

RIMS also named the other officers of its board for 2017:
