Flooding from Hurricane Matthew continued in North Carolina Wednesday, leaving 19 dead and several counties under mandatory evacuation orders, according to the Weather Channel

Hurricane Matthew caused devastating inland flooding because of heavy rains across multiple states, including record rainfall amounts in parts of North Carolina. 

The hurricane is being compared to Hurricane Floyd in 1999, but the damages in North Carolina from Matthew are likely to be much worse because of the areas being affect the hardest, according to Boston-based Karen Clark & Co.
