Insurance broker and risk advisor Marsh, a subsidiary ofNew York City-based professional services company Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., announcedThursday that it has appointed Martin South as president of itsU.S. and Canadian division, effective Sept. 1.

South will report to John Doyle, president of Marsh, and will bebased in Marsh’s New York City office. South will oversee Marsh’sU.S. core brokerage, businesses in Canada, and portfolio of U.S.businesses.

Most recently, South was CEO of Marsh’s Asia-Pacific region,beginning in 2013. Rob Bentley, former president of the U.S. andCanada division, is moving on to work on strategic initiativesacross Marsh & McLennan's risk and insurance services segment,which includes Marsh and subsidiary GuyCarpenter.

South has 30 years of global operating experience in severalinsurance industry positions. He previously served as CEO of MarshEurope, and prior to that, CEO of Marsh U.K. & Ireland. AtZurich Financial Services, South was a member of its groupmanagement board, responsible for all of Zurich’s operationsoutside North America and Europe.

Changes in Asia-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions

Marsh’s businesses in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, whichpreviously reported to South, have been realigned into threeregional units, reporting to Doyle:

Marsh Asia: David Jacob has been appointed CEOof Marsh’s business in Asia, based in Singapore. Marsh Asia servesclients in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea,Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Anexecutive with 26 years of experience with Marsh, including 21years in Asia, most recently Jacob served as Asia sales andspecialty leader. Previously, he served as CEO of Marsh Hong Kongand Marsh Philippines.

Marsh Pacific: Scott Leney will continue toserve as CEO of Marsh Pacific, based in Sydney. Marsh Pacificserves clients in the newly configured region, which includesAustralia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Marsh Middle East: Stephen Lundin will continueto serve as CEO of Marsh Middle East, based in Dubai. Marsh MiddleEast serves clients across the region from its offices in Bahrain,Egypt, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
