Two auto manufacturers are issuing recalls that affect a totalof 300,000 vehicles.

Kia Soul gas pedals

Kia Motors America is recalling their 2014-2015 Soul and Soulelectric cars because a section of the gas pedal may bend andfracture if unanticipated excessive force is applied to the pedal.This could affect the car's ability to accelerate and increase therisk of a crash. The recall involves 208,858 cars and Kia will benotifying owners about the recall on March 24, 2015. Dealers willbe able to add a rubber support under the pedal that should addressthe problem for owners.

Honda airbags

Takata airbag issues continue to plague manufacturers. Honda isrecalling several more models because deployment of the frontdriver side air bag could generate excessive pressure and cause theinflator to rupture, releasing metal fragments that couldpotentially harm the vehicle's passengers.

The models affect by the recall are the:

  • 2001 Accord
  • 2004 Civic
  • 2008 Pilot

Honda says that 104,871 vehicles are affected: 10,868 Civics;5,454 Accords; and 88,549 Pilots. Owners will be contacted by Hondaso they can take their vehicles to the dealer to have the airbaginflator replaced free of charge.

The Takata airbags have affected cars from 10 different automanufacturers, requiring them to issue recalls for 17 millionvehicles.

Owners who want to verify if their vehicle has been involved ina recall can go to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administrationwebsite and search by make and model.
