(Bloomberg) -- Willis Group Holdings Plc hired Nicolas Aubertfrom American International Group Inc. and designated him to be thenext chief executive officer of the U.K. insurance business as thebroker expands in the country.

Aubert, who was AIG’s chief operating officer for Europe, MiddleEast and Africa, will report to Willis Deputy CEO Steve Hearn andtake over insurance unit after it receives regulatory approval,London-based Willis said today in a statement.

“Nicolas’s wealth of specialty and retail experience in the U.K.and abroad, combined with his strong technical knowledge of themarket and the evolving needs of complex clients, make him theideal candidate to drive forward the continued growth,” Willis CEODominic Casserley said in the statement.

Casserley, a former McKinsey & Co. partner, has beenreshaping the broker to add clients. Willis said last month it wasin exclusive talks to take a majority stake in London-based MillerInsurance Services LLP to gain the wholesale broker’s energy andshipping businesses. Casserley announced about a half-dozen dealssince becoming CEO in January 2013.
