A decorative façade beneath the Brooklyn Bridge in downtownBrooklyn collapsed, sending five people to the hospital, on July 2during a fury of severe storms in the area, reports CBS New York.
|Officials say the wall was not a retaining wall and thestructural integrity of the bridge was not affected. The citydepartments of Transportation and Buildings arrived at the scene toinvestigate the stability of the surrounding structures. CBS saysofficials are investigating whether the collapse was related tosevere storms that swept through the area that evening.
|Most of the victims breathed in dust and debris, officials toldCBS. The bricks did not appear to cause injuries.
