Florida's Citizens Property Insurance launched its most recentcomputer system upgrade, Personal Lines Claim Center. According toa release from the insurer, the personal claims component providesenhanced communication capabilities across business units andeliminates most manual processes while improving reporting andstreamlining claims handling.

The implementation of the personal lines system follows theconversion of commercial lines claims and billing from outdatedsystems this past November. Citizens says it remains on track tofully transfer all operations from a handful of legacy systems tothe new platform by the end of 2014, when personal lines billingand policy modules will also be up and running. Personal linesaccount for 96% of Florida Citizens' 943,400 policies in force asof Apr. 11, 2014, according to the statement.

"In just the initial weeks of its deployment, we can alreadyappreciate the amount of hard work and effort that went into itsdevelopment," says Jimmy Johnson, director of claims for Citizens."This is certainly light years ahead of our prior claims handlingsystem."
