American International Group has tapped a former employeeto head the sale of home, auto and life insurance in emergingmarkets.

Kevin Hogan, who was with AIG from 1984-2008 is back to lead AIGGlobal Consumer Insurance starting early next month.

In conjunction with Hogan's hire, AIG announced its global lifemanufacturing will now be a part of Hogan's Global ConsumerInsurance.

Hogan was most recently CEO of Global Life for the ZurichInsurance Group, which he joined after his first stint withAIG.

“I am very enthusiastic about the growth potential of ourmarket-leading global PC consumer and life businesses, and believethey will prosper under Kevin's strong leadership,” says CEO RobertH. Benmosche, in a statement. “Putting the manufacturing of thecritical products under the same oversight is an important step inour work to become truly one AIG.”

AIG says retirement business and U.S. life will continue to behandled by the AIG Life and Retirement unit.

Hogan assumes the role left vacant by Jeffrey Hayman, who wasappointed president of Starr Cos. international insuranceoperations in January.

Hogan will report to Peter D. Hancock, CEO of AIG PropertyCasualty.

Before leaving AIG in December 2008—shortly after the insurerwas bailed out by the federal government—Hogan was AIG's chiefdistribution officer for foreign life and retirement services.

In 2005 he was made responsible for AIA China and Nan-Shan.Prior to that, Hogan moved to Beijing in 2003 to take the lead onAIG's partnership with the People's Insurance Co. of China.
