The storm system June 13 produced the year's first derecho—astrong storm of straight-line winds with gusts of 58 mph ormore.

The Weather Channel reports power was briefly knocked out at itsheadquarters in Atlanta.

As a line of thunderstorms moved through north and centralGeorgia, an EF1 tornado touched down in Cherokee County inmetropolitan Atlanta. Later on June 14 another EF1 twister wasconfirmed in the same county and moved to Cobb and Fulton counties,says The Weather Channel.

The same weather system affected Virginia, North Carolina,Maryland, Washington D.C., Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia,Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, New York and NewJersey.

Flooding, downed trees and power outages were widespread. Fourdeaths were reported.
