Sterling James and The MilesPartnership announced the joining of their practices. Themerger will allow for Sterling James to create a global platform, gainingoffices in New York, London, Chicago, and Dubai.

The Travelers Cos. Inc. agreed to acquireThe Dominion of Canada General Insurance Co. fromE-L Financial Corp. Ltd. for approximately $1.1billion in cash. The deal is expected to close in the fourthquarter of 2013. The combined organization will remainheadquartered in Toronto, and Brigid Murphy, president and CEO ofThe Dominion will continue her roles after the acquisition takesplace. George Petropoulos, president and CEO of Travelers Canada,will become vice chairman and executive vice president, bond andfinancial products.
