Roger Sevigny has been re-appointed New Hampshire's insurancecommissioner by Governor Maggie Hassan.

The appointment now awaits final approval from the state'sExecutive Council. The nomination was made to the Executive Councilon May 15.

Sevigny was originally appointed to the job by Republican Gov.Craig Benson in 2003.

Hassan is a Democrat, and Democrats control the ExecutiveCouncil, 3-2, as a result of last November's election.

Sevigny is a former president of the National Association ofInsurance Commissioners and currently is chairman of the NAIC'sProducer Licensing Task Force.

He is also a member of the NAIC Life Insurance and AnnuitiesCommittee and the NAIC/State Government Liaison Committee, as wellas the International Insurance Relations Leadership Group, theAccounting Practices and Procedures Task Force and the ExaminationOversight Task Force.

"For nearly a decade, Roger Sevigny has worked to protectconsumers and improve the health of New Hampshire's residents byproviding appropriate oversight of New Hampshire's insurancemarket," Hassan said in announcing the appointment.

"Sevigny's continued service will be invaluable as we work toleverage the tools provided by the federal Affordable Care Act toexpand health coverage to more families while strengthening oureconomy and improving the quality of insurance products," shesaid.

In commenting on his re-appointment, Sevigny said, "It is anhonor to serve the people of New Hampshire, and I look forward tocontinue working with Governor Hassan to improve and enhanceinsurance coverage for all Granite Staters."
