She has extensive P&Cunderwriting, insurance technology, data analytics, client andbroker relationship management and U.S. and international salesstrategy experience.

Ironshore Inc. chose Susan Pateras tofill the role of senior vice president, healthcare practice leaderof Iron-Starr after the company's entrance into the Bermudahealthcare market. Pateras comes to Iron-Starr from IntegroInsurance Brokers.

Mark Maxson was welcomed to JLT ReinsuranceInc. as executive vice president of its West Coastoperation. Maxson has more than 25 years of insurance andreinsurance experience and previously worked for Willis Re in theproduction and servicing of property-casualty.

Utica Mutual Insurance Co. selected twoassistant vice presidents: Matthew W. Fowlerand Russell E. Lee. Fowler joined Utica Nationalas personal lines product manager for the midwest region and hasprevious experience with product development capacities with GMACInsurance Corp., Republic Mortgage Insurance Co. and QBE NorthAmerica. Lee joined Utica National as personal lines productmanager for the company's New York territory and has previouslyworked for The Hartford, CUNA Mutual Group, RLI Insurance andCaterpillar Inc.

Arthur J. Glatfelter, the founder of Glatfelter Insurance Group, died on February 142013 at the age of 88. Tony Campisi, the company's president andCEO, said, “Art built a strong company and continued to worktirelessly to serve the needs of the insurance industry up untilhis retirement last year.” The company will hold a publicrememberance and celebration of Glatfelter's life at a TBDdate.

The Professional Insurance Marketing Association (PIMA) recentlyheld its 39th Annual Meeting, where it elected its 2013 leaders.Samuel Fleet, president and CEO of AmWINS GroupBenefits was installed as PIMA president. Other officersinclude:

  • Daniel O'Brien: president-elect
  • Michael Mercer: treasurer
  • Mark Kelsey: secretary

Swiss REplans to open a representative office in Bogota, Colombia afterreceiving approval from the Colombian Superintendent of Finance.Swiss RE is hopeful that a local representative office willaccelerate the growth of its Colombian and Andean markets as wellas allow the company to use its financial strength and globalexperience in support of the region's economic development.
