Chris Smy, global practice leader for Marsh’s Environmentalteam, is the first to describe his own path to his current positionas “unusual.” After a long stint in the British armed forces, Smywanted the next phase of his career to align with the intellectualstimulation he found in science and his love of the outdoors, thelatter of which manifests itself in a lot of time spent mountainbiking and climbing.
|“I’m passionate about the environment and the need to protectit,” he says. “I’m also a business person who understands thatbusiness needs to happen—but I want to help it occur in a way thathas minimum environmental impact.”
|After getting an advanced degree in environmental science, Smyworked as an environmental consultant. “I wanted to get more intothe solutions side, so I joined AIG in London. Then, I wanted moreclient interaction, and so I came to Marsh.”
