Zurich North America appointed TomFioretti chief risk engineering officer. He will overseedevelopment and delivery of risk engineering management and lossprevention services. Fioretti joined Zurich in 2008 after a 20 yearcareer with AIG.

Nick Trent was hired by Integro tofill the role of principal in its property practice. He brings morethan 23 years of experience in the global property insuranceindustry and comes from Marsh & McLennan, where he was recentlysenior vice president and team leader of its property andinternational practice.

Locktonexpanded its loss control team with the addition of KevinHoffman as senior loss control consultant in its St. Louisoffice. Hoffman has more than 15 years of experience managinghospital safety programs and will focus on providing strategicdirection and advice to large healthcare organizations

Paul Calnan has been named senior vicepresident global offshore energy for Ironshore.He will be responsible for underwriting first partyoffshore energy risk such as offshore platforms, mobiledrilling rigs and exploration.

Willis NorthAmerica appointed Jeremy Sykes andFrancesca Sykes as client advocates of its MarinePractice. They will oversee business development within thepractice and will also work to expand Willis' footprint in theVirginia marketplace.

Mergers & Acquisitions

ACORD and DISA consolidated under the ACORD banner. Themerger will benefit both organizations by allowing them to supportall insurance standards including healthcare and introducing newindustry sectors to ACORD. The DISA agreement follows inACORD's tradition of expansion through merger and build on DISA'ssupport of the Accredited Standards Committee that develops andmaintains cross-industry e-commerce standards.

New Programs

Zurich teamed up with Affinity GroupUnderwriters (AGU) on a new bicycle accident insurance policy.AGU's insurance pays lump-sum cash benefits for bicyclists who maysuffer injury or death following a cycling accident as long as therider was wearing a helmet. Coverage details include:

  • Availability in 26 states
  • Limits from $50,000 to $250,000 for critical injuries
  • $100 per day for a maximum of 60 days for accidents thatrequire hospital stays longer than 24 hours.

Philadelphia Insurance Cos. now offers coverage designed toprotect Fuel Dealers. Eligible businesses includeliquid propane, home heating fuel, bulk oil sales and wholesalefuel dealers. Coverages include:

  • Pollution
  • Auto
  • Terminal access card protection
  • Liquor liability
  • E&S coverage for hard to place exposures.

The product offers higher sub-limits for many typical coveragesunique to these businesses such as $50,000 for surface watercontamination of gas and pollution from above ground storagetanks or erroneous delivery.
