Leslie Lacroix was elected chair of Applied Systems Client Network (ASCnet) for 2013. Sheis director of operations for Southland Insurance Service inWindsor, Ontario. Other newly elected officers and directorsinclude Donna Barr LaGoy as vice chair,John Warn as treasurer and MaureenBoeing as past chair.

Robert Benmosche will receive the 2013Insurance Hall of Fame award, to be presented at the June 17 galadinner and IIS 49th Annual Seminar in Seoul, Korea. The awardhonors leaders who have made broad, encompassing and lastingcontributions to the industry and are recognized by peers assuccessful innovators and visionaries. Benmosche joined AIG aspresident and CEO in August 2009 and is credited with saving AIGfrom financial collapse.

Marsh & McLennan acquired IndependentInsurance Group Benefits, based in Dallas, Texas. IndependentInsurance will be folded into Marsh & McLennan's PrescottPailet Benefits, expanding its depth and expertise in employeebenefits.

Brown& Brown purchased Gilbert RV Insurance as part of its planto expand in the recreational vehicle insurance market.

R-T Specialty, the brokerage segment of Ryan Specialty Group,acquired International Facilities Insurance Services (IFIS). IFIShas a workers' comp specialty complemented by general commercialliability wholesale activities and expertise in oil, gas andtrucking/transportation risks.

NeaceLukens completed its acquisition of the Davis-Garvin Agency,headquartered in Columbia, S.C. with a focus on lumber and forestryproducts. Davis-Garvin customers will have the benefit of greaterproduct offerings and support from Neace Lukens as a result ofNeace's expansion goals.

New Programs

|

K&K Insurance Group announced a specialtyprogram targeting groups organizing walk or run events. TheWalk/Run Event Program coverages will protect the organization,including its employees and volunteers, from liability claims andwill also include medical payments for participants. Eventsmeeting the following criteria qualify:

  • Maximum of 10,000 participants
  • Events lasting three days or less
  • Total course distance under 16 miles.

KaliffInsurance and Lloyd's of London recently established expandedcoverage for amusement rides for the carnival industry. Kaliff hasbeen an underwriter for the outdoor amusement agency for 96 yearsincluding fairs, festivals, live-stock shows, carnivals and more.

Applied Systems was awarded two patents fortechnology in Applied Systems Epic, its brokerage managementsystem. Patent 8,234,219 is for tech that protects potentiallysensitive information such as SNNs. Patent 8,290,971 is fortechnology within Epic that presents information in an intuitiveway, allowing Epic users to quickly view optimal data.
