Glenn Dorr has been appointed director of theNortheast region at Lloyd's America.

Dorr joins Lloyd's from HCC Specialty, where he was senior vicepresident. He has more than 20 years of experience in thestandard and surplus lines segments in the US and overseas.

Lloyd's America says Dorr will be based in the Boston areaand will be responsible for market development activities in an11-state region stretching from Maryland to Maine, and WashingtonD.C. Lloyd's stakeholders in this region include retail, wholesale& reinsurance brokers, program managers, MGA's, risk managersand the organizations that support them.

“My first priority will be to introduce myself to the manyLloyd's stakeholders in the Northeast, including brokers, MGA's,MGU's and the universities whose risk management programs arepreparing the next generation of industry professionals,” saysDorr, in a statement. “As a member of the Lloyd's America team, I'ma local resource focused on ensuring that Lloyd's is understood andaccessible to everyone with a current or potential futurerelationship with the Market.”

Hank Watkins, president of Lloyd's America says Dorr'sarrival is an “important next step in an ongoing process ofensuring that our activities on behalf of the managing agents andLondon-based brokers support their continued success in Lloyd'slargest market.”

The Northeast region is one of four established by Lloyd'sAmerica in late 2010. As a leading provider of naturalcatastrophe capacity in this part of the country, Lloyd's alsowrites a wide range of management liability, professional liabilityand other specialty lines on an open market basis and throughbinding authorities extended to more than 200coverholders.
