Harvey Wolfman, president of the Florida Association of PublicAdjusters (FAPIA), died Aug. 2 following a heart attack.

President-Elect George W. Keys will assume the FAPIA presidency,says the association in a statement.

“Harvey was truly a champion for FAPIA and the public adjustingindustry, and his leadership and input will be greatly missed,”says Keys. “We will continue his good work by moving forward withthe advocacy and policy goals he helped set for the yearahead.”

Wolfman, president of the BCH Group in Sunrise, Fla., wasrecently interview by PC360 following a ruling by the stateSupreme Court that a 2008 state statute was unconstitutional.

The statute banned public adjusters from soliciting homeownersfor 48 hours after an event like a hurricane, sinkhole or tornado.Wolfman said the association was never in favor of the legislation.FAPIA has worked to ensure only honest adjusters work in the state,he continued.

Wolfman became president of FAPIA at the association's Mayconference in Orlando.

Key is the principal of Keys Claims Consultants in Naples, Fla.He is a founding member and past president of FAPIA, which hasabout 400 members. Key has also been a member of the board ofdirectors for the National Association of Public Adjusters.
