In its latest Hot Spots report, The National InsuranceCrime Bureau (NICB) outlines the continuing downward spike innational auto thefts, as well as the ten areas with the mostvehicle thefts per capita.

Contributing to the overall decline was a significant drop inthe rankings of the Laredo, Texas area. Ranked as the top hotbedfor auto theft in 2009, this MSA dropped to the 53rdspot in just two years, from 1,792 in 2009 to 849 total thefts in2011.
