Disruption is Theme of CCC Report on Claims and Risk for Insurers

CCC Information Services Inc. announces today the availability of its annual Crash Course report that explores the trends and business drivers impacting the automotive claims and collision repair industries. CCC is a provider of software and services to the auto physical-damage industry and draws upon its data warehouse of auto claims and repair information to compile the report.

Disruption is the central theme for the 2012 report, according to Susanna Gotsch, lead analyst for CCC. It defines how a broad range of factors impact the automotive claims and collision repair industry, she adds.

“Some disruption is good, if you consider how technology has interrupted otherwise linear processes and made us more efficient,” says Gotsch. “However, other disruptions such as the devastating tsunami inJapan, the flooding inThailand, and the significant catastrophe activity in 2011, negatively impacted the entire parts supply chain, depleting inventory and driving up costs.”

The Crash Course report examines these and other factors, including the continued impact of the global economic meltdown of 2008, and the many technology innovations changing consumer expectations. It also provides insights as to how repairers and carriers can continue to compete in today’s environment.
