Progressive Insurance announced it is offering mobile quotingand selling capabilities to its more than 35,000 independent agentsthrough the carrier's agency-dedicated Web site, ForAgentsOnly.com.The site is now accessible from tablets, so agents can quote andsell personal passenger auto insurance anywhere, anytime.

"Our agents are busy, on-the-go professionals, and we're findingnew ways to break down the barriers to doing business quickly andeasily wherever they go," says Karen Barone, Progressive's agencydistribution business leader. "We'll continue producing technologythat helps agencies grow their business and stay better connectedwith their customers."

Agents using iPads can quote and sell policies. Androidcompatibility is expected to arrive in the next few months.

The enhancements are part of a push to offer cutting-edge mobiletechnology. Earlier this year, Progressive made advancements to itscustomer-facing technologies by adding VIN scan, severe weathertext alerts, and Snapshot discount updates to its list of mobileofferings, which also includes finding a local agent, claimsreporting, and bill pay.

"We live in a mobile marketplace and providing agents with thiscapability will help them stay competitive and connected with bothProgressive and their customers," says Matt Lehman, Progressive'smobile business leader. "We'll continue looking for more ways toenhance our mobile technology offerings to create efficientbusiness processes for agents that help them better manage theirworkflow demands."

Progressive plans to roll out additional enhancements this year,adding to its slate of mobile offerings and apps.
