|West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed Michael D.Riley acting insurance commissioner of the state Offices of theInsurance Commission.
|Tomblin replaces Jane L. Cline, who in May announced her retirement effectiveJune 30. Cline has been chief of insurance in the state since2001.
|Tomblin started with the state insurance commission in 2001 asan administrative services manager and has since become theassistant commissioner of regulation. He was a project manager asthe state privatized its workers' compensation system, says a statementfrom Riley.
|"I am confident that Mike's knowledge and experience gatheredover the course of his almost 10 years at the Offices of InsuranceCommission, coupled with Jane's legacy of thoughtful leadershipskills, makes him well-suited to lead the agency and take on thecontinuing challenges that face the insurance commission," Rileysays.
|Riley has a master's degree in business administration and anundergraduate degree in finance, both from MarshalUniversity.
